The Town of Roachdale was founded in 1880. Roachdale is in northeastern Putnam County in Franklin Township. It has a population of approximately 1000 people and spans an area of .51 square miles. Roachdale is home to many local businesses, a Carnegie Library, churches and an elementary school. Roachdale is also famous for its annual roach races that are held each summer.
The North Putnam Community School District serves the communities of Bainbridge, Roachdale, and Russellville and Clinton, Franklin, Floyd, Jackson, Monroe and Russell Townships in northern Putnam County. The district also serves the Heritage Lake development in Floyd Township.
