Business Climate

Putnam County and its communities are very supportive of new business investment and expansions.  During the past several years, the county has benefited from investments at the following companies:

These organizations were supported by local incentive packages and in some cases, state incentives packages.  in some cases, supporting services were also provided by Ivy Tech Community College in regard to job training and WorkOne Western Indiana in regard to job training and employee recruitment.

In all cases, the companies were assisted by the Greencastle/Putnam County Development Center in requesting support from the local units of government in the form of local incentive packages and assistance.  In some cases, additional incentives were provided by the Indiana Economic Development Corporation.

In Greencastle, commercial investments have also increased.   Several new restaurants have opened including a Dairy Queen, Green Apple Frogurt,  and Charlies.   In October of 2013, Zinc Mill Terrace, a new 94 unit market rate apartment complex opened.   Construction is nearing completion on the last few units.  In downtown Greencastle, a new university bookstore, Eli’s Books and Starbucks have recently opened.

In Cloverdale, the C-Bar-C Expo Center draws a wide range of horse shows and other events that support local businesses.
