OUR COMMUNITIES

Putnam County offers a wide range of community and lifestyle choices. There are six incorporated communities in the county – Bainbridge, Cloverdale, Fillmore, Greencastle, Roachdale and Russellville. Greencastle, the county seat, is the largest of these six communities.  In addition, there are rural neighborhoods and lake communities such as the National Road communities of Putnamville and Reelsville and the lake community of Heritage Lake in northeast Putnam County.

The “EDUCATION” tab includes information about each of the four school districts in the county, Area 30 Career Center, Ivy Tech Community College, and DePauw University.

For a rural community, Putnam County has as a wide range of amenities to offer its residents and visitors. These amenities support a high quality of life that provides numerous options for outdoor and sports activities as well as amateur and professional cultural activities. Our proximity and easy access to Indianapolis allows residents to take advantage of the amenities of the region including professional sports such as the Indianapolis Colts NFL football team, Indiana Pacers NBA basketball team, Indy Eleven soccer team, Indiana Fever WBA basketball team, and Indianapolis Indians baseball team; professional racing with the Indianapolis 500 and Brickyard 400; the Indianapolis Museum of Art; the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis; and the Indianapolis Symphony.
